50 years on from the first transmission of the classic British series Thunderbirds, Charles Hazlewood led his All Star Collective and members of Paraorchestra in a celebration of composer Barry Gray’s iconic music. Special guest Jarvis Cocker joined the all-star 14-piece band along with Adrian Utley of Portishead, Will Gregory of Goldfrapp and soprano Victoria Oruwari.

The concert was testament to the enduring appeal of Barry Gray’s fantastic music and we couldn’t have asked for a better collection of musicians to give it life again. Here’s to another fifty years.

Typical of Charles’ eclectic and vivid musical style – and drawing on the strengths of the psychedelic talent of the All Star Collective – the music brought together a unique hybrid of 60s pop, big-band and sci-fi aesthetics, and featured Francois Evans playing Barry Gray’s own Ondes Martinot.

The event featured theme music from Gerry Anderson’s other 1960s television shows including Fireball XL5Stingray and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.
